History
The Bosrand; a warm welcome in a family run business for almost 60 years.
Altough a lot of things changed since 1954, our guests can expect the same traditional hospitality as in the old days. As Thomas and Albertje Rispens started to run the wooden Inn back in those days, things were simple. In the busy summer time the new owners rented out all their rooms. Daytime work and evenings were spent with the Bosrand guests, doing games or playing cards. At night they just slept on mattresses on the kitchen floor to give the best rooms to the guests.
There was not much luxury in the beginning. Fresh water was pumped from the own property well and wood for the fireplace was found plenty in the forest or washed up on the beach.
In the sixties a brick building replaced the wooden Inn and electricity and water supply came in. In the seventies, as their daughter and son-in-law took over the business, the bulk beds were changed into more comfortable beds. Some rooms were even equipped with own bathrooms!
In the nineties, the third family generation built comfortable condominiums and hotel rooms with a good standard.
However, recently plans were made for developing a whole new hotel. Modern comfort and luxury according to the newest standards and demands.
After the implementation of these plans, not much will remind you to the adventures of our grandparents. Still, we are convinced that the unique location, friendly atmosphere and good old hospitality at Hotel the Bosrand will always stay…
